King Arthur on Dartmoor

Painted by Percy Spence in 1928, this colourful portrayal of a very cheerful-looking King Arthur mounted on a white horse was originally used for a 1930's Great Western Railways poster promoting Glorious Devon.
Issued from 1931, this popular puzzle was available until 1936, initially as a 375 piece version, rising to 400 pieces in around 1933.
The example shown here is believed to date from 1932, housed in a blue box. Also shown is a box from a 1931 edition, plus a copy of the promotional poster which the painting was commissioned for in the first instance.
