Daughter of the Nile, A

Superb example of one of Holtzapffel's exceedingly scarce c1907-1910 single-sided Three Deck puzzles featuring unsigned artwork. The original box in which the puzzle is contained advertises Two Deck puzzles on the inside of the lid and also contains one of Holtzapffel's familiar checkers labels which specifies the title, piece count and style.
Artwork has only been applied to one side of the thick mahogany board, which has been cut into eight push-fit, or non-interlocking strips. These have then been individually sliced into three undulating horizontal layers which have then in turn each been cut into approximately ten, predominantly semi-interlocking pieces.
