Although the painting is unsigned, it seems likely that this puzzle, with its close similarities to the Gold Box puzzles A Japanese Cook and A Japanese Greeting may also feature the work of the British artist Evelyn Stuart Hardy (1866-1935). The puzzle, which is thought to be of 1960's vintage also features 48 Whimsies. or figural shapes.
