Felro

Limited production British brand of wooden jigsaw puzzles, of c1930s origin and possibly manufactured by AVN Jones, whose cutting style shows very close similarities. The FELRO brand name clearly references the company's identity of FELix ROsenstiel.

The first example recorded here features a print published by the London firm of John Harrap & Son, one of the "Old and Modern London" prints. These also featured in an extensive series by Victory, entitled London View, all of which carry the name of Felix Rosenstiel's on their guide images!

Rosenstiel's own website records jigsaw puzzles as one of many diversifications during the years between first and second World Wars, also confirming their takeover of Harrop & Son in 1938.

The Trafalgar Square puzzle displayed here would appear to represent this period in their history perfectly!
