Battle of Trafalgar, The

A semi-interlocking puzzle cut from solid mahogany with 14 shaped pieces (whimsies) and cut for Jenner's by the Zig-Zag Puzzle Company. The picture is a latitudinous slice of French artist Paul Leon Jazet's painting titled 'The Death of Nelson' and depicts the scene on the deck of HMS Victory after Nelson was fatally wounded. However the bottom part of the picture showing Nelson himself has been cut off!

The puzzle is housed in a red box with the 'Jenner's' label. Various dates have been handwritten on the title label, the earliest being 1st June 1918.
The inscription '10/6' on the base is assumed to be the original purchase price, (52½p in decimal) but equivalent to c.£55 today.
