Granny Knitting

Small 60 piece, fully interlocking plywood jigsaw puzzle, the first example I have seen of one of this Company's own branded puzzles. Best known for their printing and publishing business, they are more commonly associated with the supply of images for other puzzle manufacturers to use, so it seems likely that their own puzzles may have been cut elsewhere.
I estimate this puzzle to be of early 1930s construction, as they became a limited Company in 1933, the box label for this puzzle appearing to predate that.
The quality of the packaging is superb, particularly for such a seemingly simple puzzle. Interestingly the smaller scale guide picture on the box-base is a slightly different image to the puzzle itself, although the subject is almost the same. Both are by the Scottish artist Henry John Dobson (1858-1928).
