Cat Bird

Heather has created a series of at least eight birds in this style, shaped with dropouts, using incredibly well-controlled line-cutting skills. The earliest I spotted was no 849 Carolina Parakeets in summer 2021.
My favourite is the Cat Bird, mine being at least the second copy, no 849 cut in June 2022. The pair of birds perch elegantly on graceful stems with the most delectable mulberry fruits (the fruits are tricky to assemble).

John James Audubon was born in 1785. A self-taught wildlife artist, he spent twenty years travelling North America to record birds for his book. Published between 1827 and 1838, the 435 prints transformed bird illustration through realistic proportions, animated poses and innovative new printing techniques. The Birds of America is a feat of artistry and technical skill and one of the most valuable natural history books today.
