Broke, H.M.S.

This is the first example I have found from this very uncommon brand name, and one which was almost certainly manufactured for this Portsmouth-based publishers elsewhere.
The black & white postcard-sized photograph carries a copyright 2328 reference in the lower left corner. The ship featured is the third naval vessel to carry the name H.M.S. Broke and was a Thornycroft Type Leader destroyer, built in nearby Southampton, launched in 1920 although not commissioned until 1925 and which saw considerable service during WWII, right up until she sustained hits off Algiers on 8th November 1942, sinking two days later.Source:Wikipedia.
Similarities in style with both Victory and Chad Valley puzzles can be seen within the cutting, although there is no certainty of either being involved.
