L'occasion fait le larron

Featuring a semi-interlocking cutting style, colour line-cutting and Whimsies, or figural shaped pieces, this plywood puzzle has clear links with the Pastime range of Parker Brothers, the connections with which are still not fully understood. The label inside the box-lid, showing: Sawed By, Polished and Counted by, and Inspected by, establish another aspect of this relationship. See King George V and Queen Mary, from the Parker Brothers Pastime range.
The unsigned painting carries the title (in French), along the lower edge which translates as Opportunity makes the thief. Thanks Jacques.
