Double Decker

A range of double-sided three-dimensional puzzles cut from solid wood. Each whole piece is cut through the middle in a jigsaw-like manner and the two halves of all pieces must be slotted together before assembling the whole puzzle.

Although made from solid wood and intrinsically robust the lugs cut across the wood grain are prone to breakage caused by impatient or frustrated puzzlers attempting to force pieces into place.

Some pictures are from known artists or titles but others are unnamed and less inspiring.

Two examples are illustrated, one of 80 pieces, the other 160 pieces but it is not known how many were made and in what quantities. It is suspected these were expensive to produce and of limited popularity.

More information on quantities made and the number of variations is welcomed.
