LANCASTRIA Cunard Cruising Liner, R.M.S.

Very impressive puzzle from a superb painting by George Horace Davis (1881-1963) whose work also appears elsewhere in the Cunard series, as well as on the GWR puzzle, The Royal Route to the West.
The very fine painting also features five inset paintings detailing some of the interior features of the liner, plus crew details and information on the costs of tenders to and from shore. Launched in 1920 as the Tyrrenhia, but renamed Lancastria in 1924, this magnificent ship sailed scheduled Trans-Atlantic crossings until 1932 when she became a cruise ship in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe. Requisitioned in April 1940 as a troop ship, she was tragically sunk by German dive bombers off the French port of St. Nazaire on 17th June 1940, with huge loss of life. Source: Wikipedia.
Understood to have first been issued in 1938, this is now one of the least common puzzles from the Cunard series.
