GWR Great Western Railways Series

Surely one of the most interesting and researched series of puzzles, produced in Britain during the heyday of wooden jigsaw manufacture, the 1920's and 1930's. This series wonderfully demonstrates the advancements being made in both style and quality. They include early non-interlocking puzzles, experiments with double-sided puzzles, colour line-cutting, wavy edges and even twin puzzle sets. Many of these techniques were being used by other makers at a similar time, but it is fascinating to be able to see all these styles as well represented as they are here within Chad Valley's GWR promotional series.
Production of some of the puzzles in this series spanned several years, during which time box styles were changed and updated. Where alternative box styles occurred, they will be photographed and shown in each relevant album.
Further thanks and praise to Tom Tyler for his phenomenal research and publications on this subject.
