Inn of the Past, An

This 150 piece plywood puzzle features an unsigned landscape painting and is estimated to be of c1920's origin.
The puzzle has quite a tale to tell, having come to me as part of a collection. Working through the various puzzles, in no particular order, I started finding odd pieces which did not belong in the box for the puzzle being worked, so added these to an ever-growing box of spares. When I came to this particular puzzle, with notes indicating three piece missing in 1948, superseded by a note reporting four missing in 1980, I was delighted to have been able to locate all of the absentees, making this fine little puzzle complete again in 2016!
The box covering for this puzzle is also quite unlike any other I have seen from Chad Valley, leading me to a belief that previous owners have added their own touch by sticking the hyacinths image over the original box-lid artwork.
