Tormentum, The

Dating from the early 20th century era c1900-1920's, The Tormentum wooden puzzles were almost certainly manufactured by London manufacturers Peacock Brothers, who were also likely to have been cutters for puzzles marketed by Selfridges, Hamleys, Bon Marché, Boardmans and Shoolbred, other top Department stores of the period.
I have also seen a "Tormentum" wooden jigsaw puzzle carrying the "Benetfink & Co" store identity. This store traded from 1845-1907 when they were taken over by Gamage's.
Quality was generally very high, both in cutting style and print selection.
