Untitled-Romance

Beautiful example of one of Holtzapffel's exceedingly uncommon double-sided Two Deck solid wooden jigsaw puzzles, believed to be from the era 1907-1910 and featuring artwork by the British artist John Sanderson-Wells.
The thick solid mahogany board has been firstly cut into eight non-interlocking strips which have then each been sliced with a wavy non-interlocking cut to create two layers. Each of these layers has then been independently cut into roughly ten puzzle pieces, mostly semi-interlocking in nature. The original box is absent, so the official title of this puzzle is unknown and I have not found any details of the two paintings elsewhere, although each clearly relates to the other, telling a short story of romance, or perhaps a proposal!
