Indian Girl, An

Another spectacular example from Holtzapffel, which features their later cut style and carries a box address of 79 Wigmore Street, the Company location in 1931. The wonderful print, probably a promotional poster of the era has been mounted on ply and expertly colour line cut as usual, creating another very rewarding puzzle to assemble.
The painting is unsigned, but similarities in style with the work of British artist Percy Padden, who produced many similar transport posters in this era, should not be overlooked. He is known to have painted several scenes for the Royal Mail Steam Packet Co., including the poster featured in the Holtzapffel puzzle Egyptian Donkey Boy, amongst others.
