This 254 piece Japanese Coloured Prints wooden puzzle is believed to date from the era 1907-1910, the earliest period in Holtzapffel's jigsaw puzzle making history.

The cutting style is push-fit and includes some colour line-cutting. The original box is missing but the checkers label confirms the manufacturing origins and quotes a simple title of Japanese, a heading which would appear to have been used for all of the puzzles in this print series.
