Huvanco

The Huvanco branded jigsaw puzzles, and their slightly earlier Huvan associates, were the produce of the Huvan Manufacturing Company of Ilford in Essex. Their product range covered a vast range of subject interest, using high quality prints, intricate cutting styles and very sturdy boxes, altogether a perfect combination for a puzzle manufacturer. Production ran from around 1910-1939.
In their prime they listed close to 1000 titles in their catalogue although judging by their rarity, it is perhaps questionable as to whether all were produced. They were listed in the 1922 British Industries Fair as Advertising and Seasonable Wood Cut-outs and Novelties, Silk-backed Relief Calendars, Huvanco Jigsaw Puzzles, Wooden Alphabets, Animals, Dolls' Houses, Furniture, etc. Artistic Woodwork Specialities.
Much of the information available today is as a result of the studies of the late Keith Lambeth, who recorded and documented many of the puzzles manufactured by them.
