Avenue of Chestnuts

This must be about as big and colourful as you could get in plywood puzzles, measuring a huge 42" x 23 1/2. Too large to be cut as a single board, the first stage was to make a non-interlocking, wavy-edged vertical cut down the centre, so creating two halves which were now small enough to rotate in the limited throat of the scroll/fret saw.
This is one of several subjects available in the so-called Heliochrome series. See Page 6 & 7 from this Gamages/AVN Jones catalogue for further examples.
The painting appears to carry an artist signature H Rosler, but I have been unable to find any details of such an artist. Rather confusingly the dictionary definition of a Heliochrome is that it is a photograph, but this is clearly not the case in any of the examples from the catalogue.
See the equally impressive 2000 piece Fortnum & Mason branded puzzle Waving Cornfield, which was also clearly cut by AVN Jones and features as a title on the same catalogue page.
