Glamorgan

This puzzle portrays a picture used for a 1960 British Railways (Western Region) poster advertising the Gower Coast. A group of people (detail) are walking along a valley between towering cliffs and there is a beach in the distance. The lower left is surprisingly dark but it is thought this was a deliberate ploy to make the poster stand out better.

Gyrth Russell was born in Canada and came to Europe to be an eminent war artist in WW1 and WW2, after which he moved to Glamorgan and designed many railway posters including this one.

The puzzle is all push-fit with much line cutting along the cliff edges and between the multi-coloured rocks making this a very challenging puzzle created by a skilled, but unknown cutter. All pieces have curved edges with no lugs. It comes in a typical but deep BJPL box.
