Early Winter

Super little plywood jigsaw puzzle cut by Dolly McDougall in 1957 and featuring her usual flair for non-interlocking pieces and accurate colour line-cutting.

The unsigned painting is thought likely to be by the American artist George Henry Durrie (1820-1863). His many rural winter scene paintings became very popular when New York lithographic company Currier and Ives published ten of his paintings in the mid 19th century.
