St. Margaret of Scotland

Very fine interlocking plywood puzzle featuring an unsigned painting of the legendary, Hungarian born St. Margaret of Scotland (c.1045-1093). Margaret arrived in Scotland in 1068 and married King Malcolm III in 1070. They had eight children including Edith of Scotland who later went on to marry King Henry I of England.
Margaret was a pious woman, and among many charitable works she established a ferry across the Firth of Forth for pilgrims travelling to Dunfermline Abbey, which gave the towns of Queensferry and North Queensferry their names.
She also personally fed orphan children and the poor before she ate. Margaret died in 1093, just three days after receiving news of the deaths of her husband and eldest son Edward at the Battle of Alnwick.
Saint Margaret was canonised in the year 1250 by Pope Innocent IV in recognition of her personal holiness, fidelity to the Church, work for religious reform, and charity. Historical information from Wikepedia.
