Mending the Nets

Almost certainly manufactured by Victory, this 375 piece fully interlocking Mayfair branded puzzle, is numbered as 375-1 on the label, presumably indicating that this was the first produced in this size. The C.W.F. initials on the label are believed to relate to the art publisher's C.W. Faulkner of Golders Green, London, for whom Gerald Hayter's company are thought to have produced it.
The seascape was painted in 1906 by the British artist Alexander Young (1865-1923), his signature, whilst cropped in this example, appears in full in this alternative Chandos branded version of the same painting.
