Old Kitchen, The

Another example of the Victory-styled Mayfair brand of plywood jigsaw puzzles, thought to have been manufactured by Gerald Hayter's Bournemouth company for the art publisher C.W. Faulkner & Co., of London, the small C.W.F. legend appearing on the box label. This particular puzzle carries a retailer label on the reverse from W.E. Harrison, The Ancient House Bookshop, Ipswich., a building renowned as being one of the town's most famous landmarks, with its ornately pargeted facade.
The artist signature is unclear, but thought to read G. Evans.
