Vase de Florence

Excellent example of a modern non-interlocking plywood puzzle, intricately line-cut along all colour borders, as well as around the subject boundaries. With virtually no interlocking pieces, considerable care and dexterity are required to complete the assembly of such puzzles. There is no visible artist signature due to the nature of the puzzle cutting, but the box-label carries the name Prevost, thought to relate to the renowned French botanical artist Jean Louis Prevost (active c1760-1810).
Special thanks to Jacques Vélu for his patience and care over assembling, then photographing this beautiful puzzle to display here. In his own words it is like playing Mikado Pick up sticks: every unperfected move makes many pieces move apart...
Now, enjoy it!
