Pandora Jig Saw Puzzle

Range of high quality wooden jigsaw puzzles, marketed by the New York City based games manufacturer/distributor Selchow and Righter during the 1930's.

Primarily, the company was a distributor, so these wooden puzzles are likely to have been made elsewhere, although, in the 1880s they did produce some simple cardboard children's puzzles: Sliced Animals, Sliced Birds, Sliced Nations, Sliced Objects, etc. The Jay bird was cut in 3 horizontal slices, each had a letter on the left to spell out "J A Y".

In the 1940s the company began producing Scrabble, and later was famous for Trivial Pursuit.

Many thanks to Anne Williams for providing further information about this important American Company.
