Gold Box "Artistic" Puzzles

Amongst the most collectable of British wooden jigsaw puzzles, produced over a very lengthy time period and in a vast range of both size and subject.
Most incorporated whimsies, or figural-shape pieces, the earlier examples being more intricate in nature, whilst in the post WWII and later Spears examples, they became far simpler and generally a lot smaller. These later puzzles also dropped the "Artistic" name, but are still considered to belong within this album.
Boxes changed little throughout their production, being covered in gold foil with an end label denoting title and size, together with an explanation of the reasoning behind not supplying a guide picture.
